UAB Students at Anshan Normal University

Robert Sherman is a senior marketing major at UAB. He came on this trip to learn about Chinese culture and to study the Chinese language.

Umair Khan is a senior marketing major as well as art studios major at UAB. He came on this trip to experience new culture and develop a stronger understanding of Chinese culture.

Marcus Dillavou is a Master’s student in Computer Science with a bachelor’s in Computer Science and minor in Management and Information Systems.  He came on this trip to learn about Chinese culture and business and to also practice his chinese.

Meredith Edmonds is a Masters of Accounting student at UAB. The UAB in China trip will be her first time overseas. She feels this is a once in a lifetime experience that she will never forget. Meredith hopes to create lasting friendships with Chinese students at Anshan University and to leave China with a better understanding about their language and culture.

Marshall Long is a Economics Major with a PPE (Philosphy and Political Economy) concentration.  He wants to experience Chinese culture through his relationships with the students at Anshan Normal University and hopes to have a better understanding of business from a very different viewpoint.

John Kier is currently an undergraduate student at UAB.  He will graduate in December with a marketing degree and a Professional Sales Certificate.  He loves to travel and try new things whenever possible.

Jo Liang am a senior at UAB and majoring in Medical Equipments and Supplies Industrial Distribution. She grew up in China and went to the US when She was 16 years old. She is really excited about this trip because she has always want to have a college experience in her home country of China. She is in the MBA program with a focus on Global Management. She is looking forward to studying chinese culture since she left her home country at such a young age and thinks it will be very meaningful for her to join this trip and study Chinese culture with her American classmates as a foreigner.
